Kevin Cross has calmed fears, quelled rumors and solved technical mysteries for Victory Riders worldwide. By day, he is service manager at Polaris of Gainesville, a Polaris-Victory dealership in north-central Florida.
Online, he is known as “KevinX” in forums at sites such as www.thevmc.com, and he has answered countless questions of all kinds. This “Answer Man” is also a U.S. Army veteran and is currently serving a two-year term as president of the Victory Motorcycle Club (VMC).
He’s also an outstanding customizer, and his current ride, a 2006 Kingpin, is a detailed work of art. It’s a bike that requires no compromise because it provides Kevin and his wife with outstanding style, enough power to win at the drag strip, and long-riding comfort.
As featured in condensed form in Victory Rider magazine, here is the equipment and mod work Kevin used to transform a Kingpin into a fantastic Kingpin Custom:
• Complete Kewlmetal 5 degree front end, including triple trees, fat tubes, and chrome indicator light panel with chrome visor.
• Kewlmetal driving lights and front turn signals with chrome housings and visors.
• Chromed brake calipers and rotors, and a custom rear caliper mount.
• Chrome oil cooler cover (“Stolen from Lobsterhunter. Thanks, Jim!”).
• Conquest Customs braided plumbing.
• Pure Victory chrome tube highway bars with footpegs.
• Dead Center Cycles fairing with Kewlmetal quick mount system. Sony stereo, 150 watt per channel amp, Polk audio speakers.
• Kewlmetal Drag Bars.
• The custom-look mirrors and mounts are actually, according to Kevin, “Kewlmetal stems with STOCK mirrors – flipped and inverted.”
• Barracuda Custom custom tank badge.
• Pure Victory chrome belt guard, passenger floorboard bottoms, sprocket, trim rails on saddlebags and driver floorboard brackets.
• Mustang seat with adjustable passenger backrest.
• Corbin Fleetliner Bags, color-matched to the bike’s silver flake custom paint.
• One of a kind custom taillight. The rear turn signal lenses “are from a Ducati Monster, a direct fit,” Kevin said.
• Pure Victory Performance Stage 1 exhaust.
• Dragon logo on rear fender for having ridden Deal’s Gap.
• The license plate came from his previous Victory, a Touring Cruiser. “I still love that old girl, and when Vic sold the Kingpin Tour, it was labeled ‘TOURING CRUISER.’”
• Intake and MSD Coils from PsychoMotive Racing Technology (PMRT).
• Penske Rear Shock from Conquest Customs.
• Primary insert from CycleOps.
